Study Permit

Students planning to study in Canada for more than six months must apply for a Canadian study permit before arriving in Canada. Here are the key steps to follow:

01

Obtain and Complete the Visa Application Form

You can get the Visa Application Form from your local Canada Immigration Centre office or online.

02

Apply for a Study Permit

Students must apply for and receive a Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada before leaving their home country to study in Canada.

03

Access Guidelines and Application Form

You can find detailed guidelines and the application form on the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada website, the Government of Canada website, or at the Canadian embassy, high commission, or consulate in your home country.

04

Submit the Application

Complete the application form and submit it with all required documents, including your Letter of Acceptance from the educational program you intend to attend. The processing time for your application can vary significantly, ranging from a few weeks to several months, depending on your home country. For specific processing time information, please visit the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada's website.

05

Seek Assistance if Needed

If you require assistance preparing your study permit and temporary resident visa application, you can contact Maple International College of Secondary Studies. They can guide you through the application process. A regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant will review your documents and teach you to help you obtain the appropriate Canadian visa.

Custodianship

International students under 18 living and studying in Canada without a parent are required to declare a legal custodian who resides close to Maple International College of Secondary Studies. A legal custodian is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who takes on the legal responsibility for minor children.

The designated official at Maple International College of Secondary Studies will act as the custodian for all students registered in the homestay program offered by the college. However, if students do not require the Maple International College of Secondary Studies homestay program, they can choose other custodians who meet the requirements.

The process for custodianship declaration involves two pages of the IRCC Custodianship Declaration form:

  1. Page One: This page is completed by the Maple International College of Secondary Studies Homestay program for students availing homestay services.

  2. Page Two: This page is to be filled out by the student's parents.

Both pages of the IRCC Custodianship Declaration are required by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) when submitting a Study Permit application. It is crucial to complete this declaration accurately and follow the requirements to ensure compliance with Canadian immigration regulations.

Homestay

Living with a Canadian homestay family offers international students a unique and enriching experience. This experience goes beyond finding a place to stay; it becomes a "home away from home" in Canada. Here's why being part of a Canadian homestay family is so valuable:

01

Language Practice

Living with an English-speaking family offers students an immersive language experience. Constant exposure to English helps them improve their language skills in casual conversation and academic settings.

02

Cultural Learning

International students see Canadian lifestyle and culture firsthand. They learn about traditions, customs, and everyday life in Canada. This cultural exchange enriches their overall education.

03

Support and Guidance

Homestay families often play a vital role in helping students adapt to their new environment. They guide students on regular basis, from transportation and grocery shopping to understanding the education system.

04

Cultural Navigation

Navigating a new culture can be challenging, but supportive homestay families help students understand and adapt to cultural differences. This support is particularly valuable for international students.

05

Enhanced Educational Experience

The cultural immersion and language practice gained in a homestay can significantly improve a student's educational experience in Canada. They can engage more actively in classes, discussions, and extracurricular activities.

In summary, the bond between international students and their Canadian homestay families extends beyond just accommodation. It's a mutually enriching experience that fosters cultural understanding, language development, and personal growth. It provides students with a supportive environment to help them succeed in their educational journey in Canada.
